Commercial case study Dublin 13 Sports & Hospitality

Sutton Golf Club

A commercial bathroom fit-out, Dublin 13.

The brief

A golf clubhouse fit-out, delivered turnkey.

This is a commercial bathroom fit-out case study at Sutton Golf Club, a nine-hole links course on the Dublin peninsula above Howth Head. Newlook Tiles & Bathrooms stripped out the old first-floor washrooms and fitted new ladies’, gents’ and accessible facilities from scratch. The work was delivered turnkey, using large-format porcelain tiling, commercial-grade sanitaryware and bespoke joinery.

The old washrooms were tired and not really fit for the club’s busy calendar of green fees, weddings and corporate days. The committee wanted something that looked and felt like a proper clubhouse, stood up to heavy footfall, and wasn’t going to date in a hurry.

We took on the full job: strip-out, plumbing and electrical first-fix, tiling, partitioning, joinery, sanitaryware, brassware, mirrors and final commissioning. One contract, one point of contact, and a programme built around the club’s fixture list so they lost as little member access as possible.

Commercial bathroom fit-out, three first-floor washroom zones

The scheme

One material language, two moods.

Two material palettes across the three zones, sharing one wood-effect that runs all the way through. A grey stone-effect porcelain carries the gents and the accessible WC. A white veined marble-effect porcelain lifts the ladies. A warm oak-effect ties them all together.

01

Grey stone.

Large-format grey stone-effect porcelain carries the gents and the accessible WC from floor to ceiling. A black veined marble-effect worktop anchors the vanity. Quiet, confident, restrained.

02

White marble.

The ladies washroom flips to a large-format white marble-effect porcelain with soft grey veining, paired with a light solid-surface vanity top. The grey floor carries through from the gents.

03

Warm oak.

A warm oak-effect wood runs through all three zones: cubicle panels, vanity carcasses and cabinet fronts. It softens the stone and is specified in commercial-grade HPL for longevity in high-traffic use.

  • Commercial-grade wood-effect HPL
  • Stainless hinges, pedestal feet
  • Bespoke joinery throughout

Zone 01 · Gents

A darker, quieter register for the gents.

The gents is the biggest of the three zones and carries the heavier palette. Grey stone-effect porcelain from floor to ceiling, oak cubicle panels, a black marble-effect vanity with twin basins, and a row of wall-hung urinals. Wherever we could, we went wall-hung. It’s easier to clean, and the floor tile reads as one continuous plane underneath.

Cubicles are commercial-grade HPL on stainless pedestal feet. The WCs are rimless, wall-hung, on concealed cisterns with chrome dual-flush plates. The basin mixers are tall chrome single-levers, chosen for their chimney profile against the black worktop.

Zone 02 · Ladies

A lighter, brighter counterpart.

The ladies washroom flips the wall finish to a large-format white marble-effect porcelain, with soft grey veining on a cream-white body. It’s paired with a light solid-surface worktop and the same oak furniture used in the gents. The grey stone-effect floor carries through, so the two rooms read as part of the same scheme even though they feel quite different.

Three wall-hung cubicles face a bespoke twin-basin vanity. There’s a frameless mirror above it, a stainless hand dryer to one side, and recessed ceiling lighting to keep the sight-lines clean.

Zone 03 · Accessible WC

Accessibility, considered as part of the scheme.

The accessible WC uses the same grey stone-effect porcelain as the gents, so it reads as part of the same scheme rather than a bolted-on afterthought. White grab rails against the grey walls give proper visual contrast, and the chrome fittings and heated towel rail match the main washrooms.

  • Wall-hung ceramic basin with lever mixer, flanked by fixed white grab rails at seated height
  • Close-coupled WC with fixed and fold-down grab rails in white against the grey walls
  • Wall-mounted mirror at seated height, bulk soap dispenser within easy reach
  • Chrome ladder-style heated towel rail matching the gents specification
  • Grey stone-effect porcelain on all walls and floor, continuous with the gents zone
